WORKSHOPS

Ancient-Future Worship
Through attending campus fellowships and churches, many Christians have realized that the style of worship seems to vary from place to place. Various denominations and organizations practice their tradition differently and it can sometimes seem a bit overwhelming or confusing. This workshop intends to teach foundational elements of worship rooted in the bible and the history of the church. It will also provide a quick survey into various denominational traditions in worship to aid in understanding where they're coming from and to develop a greater appreciation of them. If you are one of those people who find themselves wondering how the early believers worshiped, this workshop will aim to look into the past, to influence the present, towards the future in Christian Worship. (There will also be a section devoted to how this will affect the practical side of leading musical worship)

Glorifying God in Studying, Playing, and Making Friends
God calls us to live a holy lifestyle every day, not just during church, fellowships, and devotions. We are going to explore how we integrate our faith in our daily routines of studying, playing, and making friends in this workshop. We shall reflect on whether we are living a holy life in our daily routines, or we are unaware of idols getting in between our relationships with God. We are going to survey the book of Leviticus as a guide for a holy lifestyle in our daily routines.
We are so caught up in mid-terms, exams, grades, careers, friends, and hobbies that we can be detached from God in our everyday lives. But the Bible asks us to witness God and live under God’s guidance in every aspect of our thoughts, words, and deeds. Such is the spirit in the Sermon on the Mount, the Old Testament laws, Old Testament prophets, and Paul’s epistles. We please God when we strive to live under God’s guidance in our study habits, choice of friends, and leisure activities. In doing so, we are able to integrate our faith in God thoroughly into our lives. We can then avoid the danger of detaching our faith from our daily lives.
Many of us have trouble understanding the meaning and the significance of Leviticus. In fact, the book of Leviticus serves as a thorough guide for the priest and the Israelites to live as God’s people. It is very thorough and practical in teaching the Israelites how to witness God in their daily living. It offers a helpful guidance in our relationships with God, too. We shall survey the book and discover some applications in our daily walk with God.

Discipleship & Authentic Community Living: Building up Men & Women of God
Throughout the Gospels Jesus touches the lives of many people, but we notice that He develops strong relationships with His disciples, and more specifically with Peter, John, and James. (Matt 17) The disciples lived and accompanied Jesus for 3 years, and went through amazing situations and trials. In that time Jesus taught, rebuked, and invested in them, allowing them to lead the early church in the book of Acts.
This workshop will discuss what being a disciple really means, and how we can apply these principles in our Christian lives. The workshop will also deal with how we raise up brothers and sisters. Encouraging and rebuking them in their personal relationship with Christ, and how to overcome the hurt and the bondages of sin that may occur. Most importantly, we want build up those who we invest in to be able to lead others later in their lives.

Biblical Leadership- Applying Kingdom Principles to Leadership
Romans 12:8 (ESV) says that leaders are to lead in zeal. How do we, whether gifted much or little, maximize the eternal impact of the position of leadership that we have been given? What does biblical leadership actually look like in the modern day? How do we discern and cast a vision that isn't simply our own Godly idea, but a "prophetic vision" (Prov 29:18 ESV), a promised land that God wishes to move His people into? And how do we get people to come with us and create lasting changes with our leading?
This workshop will explore the principles of leadership in the kingdom of God, spanning the divide between the character of a leader as found in the Word, to the practical perspectives (which we have often learned the hard way) that it translates into for a mosaic generation ministry, on your campus or at your home church. We will also make some time to openly discuss leadership questions and situations that you guys find sticky or hard to deal with.

Next Step: Life after Graduation
So you’ve survived first or second year and you’re moving through the senior years of your post-secondary studies; have you thought about your life after graduation? What will be the same or different? This workshop will focus on the issues and concerns faced by upper-year students who are graduating soon. Come and join an interactive presentation to investigate some of the challenges, fears, misunderstandings; opportunities, joy and realities of Life After Graduation.

Evangelism in Action
Have you ever tried to share the gospel with your family, friends, or fellow peers? Whether you would like to explore ways to improve your approach to evangelism or are looking to equip yourself to start sharing the gospel, this workshop will help you put evangelism in action!
We have been given the duty of preaching the word and to be ready to do so in season and out of season (2 Tim 4:2). When we share Jesus with others, our personal faith is often challenged. An essential component to evangelism is “to always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15). We need to show others with confidence that our faith in Jesus Christ is based on sound evidence and objective truth.
Through this workshop, we hope to expand your biblical knowledge and to encourage and equip you and fellow believers to advance the gospel on campus. The workshop will provide a foundational basis for sharing Jesus Christ to your peers, and cover topics which include presenting the complete gospel message, types of people we may encounter, methods of evangelism and barriers/challenges to sharing the gospel. Most importantly, we will introduce you to the theme of apologetics; covering common objections to the gospel message. We will learn through dialogue, group work, role play and hope to provide practical resources so that you may continue to learn and become better equipped. We hope to strengthen your personal faith and motivate you to draw closer to God.

Missions and the Campus Fellowship
Campus fellowships that have Mission trips outside of the University have numerous tangible benefits to the home fellowship. It helps to develop ministry gifts, team work, and problem solving. Those who come back from the mission trips will bring back benefits that can help the local fellowship and university community including long term connections and projects in outside countries. Additionally, this workshop will focus upon the numerous ways that Campus Fellowships can engage their local communities through such ministry activities as inner city, urban poor, and refugee mission work.
There will be short presentations, group discussions, followed by actual concept reinforcing activities over the two sessions. Be prepared to use your body, brains and Bible in this workshop.

Strengthen Yourself in the Lord - Unleashing the Hidden Power of Praise and Thanksgiving
In 1 Thess. 5:16-18, it says to be joyful always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. When we think of God's will, usually the first thing that comes to mind is evangelism or prayer or reading the Bible. Why exactly does Paul mention thanksgiving as part of God's will for us? We know that we should give praise to God but do we realize that it also has a powerful effect on us as believers and the body of Christ? Not knowing how to use thanksgiving and praise properly to strengthen ourselves in the Lord has cost the Church dearly.
The workshop will explore how true thanksgiving and praise has the power to sanctify, transform and bring personal breakthrough. We will focus on two of many tools- Thanksgiving and Physical Praise. What are these two tools? How do we unlock the power behind these tools against the enemy and develop habits which will boost us into the front lines of the spiritual battle with Confidence and Peace? And how can we develop them further into our personal lives and church or campus ministries? We hope to answer these questions and many more in this workshop.

Worshipping a God Who loves Justice
We love worship. It's pretty embedded in our lives. That's good. However, we may be missing out on the full picture of worship. We cannot help but scratch our head when we live in a society where the amount of money we spend on pet food (62 billion dollars) in a year, can help eliminate poverty forever. There are many things on earth that is not what God intends to be, and He has commissioned us to. Can we turn our backs to the hurting world and continue to worship God genuinely, or is there something we need to address in our worship first? This workshop seeks to challenge conceptions and spark our imaginations to dream for a world where a loving justice becomes a reality.
